CORSO ANNUALE DI TEATRO IN INGLESE – A journey made of dreams, poems and paintings

William Shakespeare — ‘We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.’

This course is about poetry, body movement, voice and imagination.

This course will be divided into three main areas of research:

• Shakespeare’s Sonnets > we will discover how exciting poetry reading and poetry telling can be. Based on a recent intensive course on Shakespeare at the Linklater Voice Center run by Kristin Linklater in Orkney Islands (Scotland), we will investigate how to give importance to the words we utter and we will try to find our path to our voices and to our emotional impulses.

• A research into the paintings of Francisco Goya, into his characters, into the emotions and the physicality that he brings into his work, will accompany our study on words and voice.

• But the most important thing is you, your dreams, your imagination, your bodies and voice, and what you will be ready to share with your fellows and hopefully with an audience.

Our everyday work will be divided into: relaxation exercises, voice exercises, body movement and improvisation. A lot of music will be used to accompany and help us in our journey.

Final outcome: possibly… the craziest, most nonsense, most emotional and powerful poetical show. We won’t care about duration, we’ll only care about intensity.

Please, bring comfortable clothes, no belts, no shoes.

The workshop – which lasts 15 hours from October to December – will be run entirely in English.
